Glasgow beat Munster

Ruaridh Jackson inspired Glasgow to a shock 22-9 victory over defending champions Munster in the opening round of the Magners League.

Jackson's superb late try and five Dan Parks penalties was enough to give the home side the win, although their defensive steel was particularly impressive.

The visitors opened the scoring with the first of Jeremy Manning's three successful penalties early in the first-half.

But Glasgow's dominance in the scrum was evident from the offset and this foundation provided Parks with the opportunity to kick four first-half penalties to give them a 12-3 lead at the break.

The impressive Graeme Morrison was a thorn in Munster's side throughout and the Scotland centre's carving lines kept Glasgow on the front foot after the break.

Manning kicked his final two penalties in reply to Parks' effort, before Jackson scored the decisive try eight minutes from time.

Morrison blasted through several defenders after Bernard Stortoni had returned a loose Munster kick, before off-loading to replacement Jackson to score from five yards and seal the win.
