Scotland hooker Ross Ford selected on the bench for second Lions test
Scottish hooker Ross Ford has been handed a place on the Lions bench for Saturday's crucial second Test against South Africa in Pretoria.
Scotland had no representatives in the 26-21 defeat in Durban but coach Ian McGeechan's five changes have given the Edinburgh front row his chance at Loftus Versfeld.
The Lions' scrum was slammed after the first Test defeat ? South Africa led 19-7 at half time, and McGeechan has wasted no time in ringing the changes.
Simon Shaw will make his Lions test debut at the expense of Alun Wyn Jones in the second row while Adam Jones and Matthew Rees are stepping into Phil Vickery and Lee Mears' front row berths.
Rob Kearney will replace injury-victim Lee Byrne at full-back and Luke Fitzgerald takes Ugo Monye's place on the left wing.
"As a squad, the Lions still have everything to play for," said McGeechan.
"The players know that the outcome of the Test series comes down to Saturday, and they are determined to take the series to a decider in Johannesburg.
"We have made five changes to the starting XV, but it will not change the way we want to play."
