Glasgow Warriors squad severely depleted by spread of flu-bug
Glasgow boss Sean Lineen has delayed naming his team to meet Cardiff Blues on Saturday with 20 of his squad of 35 players being hit by flu-like symptoms.
Lineen was quick to state that the illness was not so serious that the club could argue for a postponement of the Cardiff clash and has named a squad of 24.
Some players reported symptoms before Glasgow’s last match – a 26-16 defeat at the hands of Ospreys last Friday – but since then the numbers affected have increased.
But despite the illness, boss Lineen was quick to praise his sides attempts to beat the bug.
"It's been a challenging week for the players who have come down with the bug," Lineen said. "But I've been very impressed by how they have gone about their business.
"The situation is obviously not ideal, and it's a huge challenge to make sure we give every player an opportunity of proving his fitness.
"This virus does take a while to get through the system. It's one thing getting over it, another thing training, and another thing again playing."
