Thom Evans backs Glasgow to pull off shock against fancied Biarritz
Glasgow wing Thom Evans is targeting the scalp of French giants Biarritz when Sean Lineen’s men kick-off their Heineken Cup campaign this weekend at Firhill.
Lineen's side sit seventh in the Magners League, with three wins from their opening five matches but after Glasgow emerged 21-5-victors against Cardiff in Wales at the weekend – Evans is predicting big things against Biarritz.
Glasgow edged to a 9-6 win over Biarritz on Heineken Cup duty in 2007 and lost 21-14 in the return tie, having led for 75 minutes.
And Evans has called on his fast-improving Glasgow colleagues to produce a Heineken Cup repeat performance when Biarritz come calling this weekend.
"We've got to go out there and back up our performance in Cardiff," said Evans, who scored a try in Cardiff.
"It was good to get a try on the board. I haven't played too well this season, so it's given me a lot of confidence going into this next game.
“I know Sean has talked a lot about consistency and it really is a big issue for us. We've let ourselves down in the past, with good victories one week and losing out to teams we should beat the following week.
"A lot of people are saying we've got the easiest group but I don't see it like that.
"Gloucester and the Dragons are playing really well at the moment and each game is going to be really tough.
"However, I firmly believe we can win every game in the pool and we can make a start on that against Biarritz."
