Evans rocked by knee injury

Glasgow centre Max Evans will miss Scotland's A tour to Romania after he was ruled out for up to six months with a serious knee injury.

The 25-year-old was carried off just after half-time of the Warriors 34-23 Magners League defeat at the Ospreys and a scan on Tuesday confirmed the medial ligament and cartilage damage.

Evans had been tipped for a surprise call-up to the Lions squad after making a stunning start to his Scotland career, which saw him score a try against Wales on his Six Nations debut and the withdrawal of centre Tom Shanklin with a shoulder injury.

Glasgow doctor Gerry Haggerty: "The outcome of Max's scan show that his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is in intact, which is positive news.

"He has a medial ligament injury and cartilage damage so he will undergo an operation to repair the cartilage and this procedure will also uncover any injury to the ACL that the scan may not have revealed.

"At this stage we can estimate that Max could be out for approximately four to six months."
