Andy Robinson not willing to take a chance on Max Evans
Scottish boss Andy Robinson revealed he is not prepared to risk centre Max Evans in Scotland’s November internationals after sending the Glasgow centre for another operation.
Evans has just returned from six months on the sidelines with a knee injury, but despite some impressive performances since his comeback the 26-year-old will be forced to go under the knife to correct a problem with his other knee.
Also out of action is prop Alasdair Dickinson with a shoulder injury but there was some good news with record points scorer Chris Paterson returning to training following a foot infection.
But despite a paucity of options at outside centre, Robinson maintains he was not willing to rush Evans back to international rugby.
“It’s a shame for him,” he said. “It is a little niggle but he needs to have it corrected.
“We expect him to be fine to play for Glasgow against Ulster at the start of December; he is not right now so, instead of delaying it, we have decided to have the operation done now.
“I was not going to pick him in this first game because he is not right, he needs to get away, get it treated, he is not 100 per cent.”
