Edinburgh score eight tries in record-breaking crushing of Connacht
Winger Mark Robertson scored two tries in Edinburgh’s resounding 62-13 Magners League win against Connacht at Murrayfield.
Rob Moffat’s side followed their impressive opening-day victory at Cardiff with an eight-try mauling of the Irish side.
The visitors opened the scoring with an Ian Keatley penalty in the opening ten minutes before Scotland A flier Robinson scored his first.
A try from centre Ben Cairns and two penalties from Chris Paterson were replied with another Keatley penalty to give the home side a 20-6 lead at the break.
Paterson and Robertson bagged tries shortly after the interval before No8 Allister Hogg added another ten minutes later.
Almost immediately after the restart flanker Alan MacDonald went over for a score as Edinburgh continued their relentless pressure.
Winger Andrew Turnbull got himself on the score sheet and Roddy Grant’s late try meant the whole back-row went over the white wash.
Young winger Fionn Carr got a consolation try for Connacht, but it was too little too late for the travelling Irish contingent.
Paterson finished the evening with an incredible eight conversions, two penalties and a try in a thoroughly pleasing evening for the Scottish outfit.
