Aussie stand-off wary of Glagow threat
Australian fly-half Shaun Berne says Scottish rugby is on the up ahead of Bath’s Heineken Cup clash with Glasgow this weekend.
Scottish clubs have been forced to sit and watch as the rest of Europe lays siege to the Heineken Cup, European Challenge Cup and Magners League titles since their existence.
No Scottish team has won either competition or come close to date.
But with the Warriors and Edinburgh wiping the slate clean and the final being hosted at Murrayfield – Berne believes there is a wind of change north of the border.
“It will be an interesting encounter against Glasgow because they have really started to step up in the Magners League this season,” said Berne.
“They have really worked on their defence and that is an area which we will need to target. They have had some big league scalps and you have to take them seriously now.
“We don’t play the Scottish sides a great deal but we know they will come to the Rec full of confidence and willing to play.”
Glasgow head to the Rec off the back of a 28-0 win over Cardiff Blues which thrust them to second in the Magners League while Edinburgh host London Wasps.
