Scottish international Ally Hogg has been unveiled as Watsonians' new forwards coach for next season.

The versatile back-rower, who toured with the British & Irish Lions in 2005, will combine his duties with club side Edinburgh and the Scottish Premier One outfit.

And coach Bruce Aitchison was delighted to draft in Hogg to fill the boots of former international Matt Musctchin who is departing for Japan.

He said: "Ally is keen to get involved in coaching and attended a couple of our pre-season training sessions.

"Being able to tap into his knowledge will be a big boost especially after also having Matt Mustchin along from Edinburgh.

"Ally is being married before the start of next season so will miss our early training and possible a match at Blaydon against a Newcastle development team but overall he'll be a big asset.

"If we have to change out routine to fit in with Edinburgh's plans we will be able to do so."
