Edinburgh coach in no rush to replace retired centre
Edinburgh coach Rob Moffat insists he won't be delving into the transfer market to replace centre Matt Dey who retired yesterday.
The 28-year-old announced his retirement after an unsuccessful battle to recover from a shoulder injury following a six-year spell with Edinburgh.
But Moffat, who was appointed as Andy Robinson's replacement last week, is confident that his squad has enough cover to keep the club challenging on all fronts next season.
"Matt's retirement was on the cards for some time, so while we are obviously sad to see him go, we are ready to take it in our stride," said Moffat.
"We won't be signing any new players before the start of the season. Although I was only appointed coach last week, I was here as an assistant to Andy before that so I am entirely comfortable with the competition we have for places from one to 15.
"Matt is a guy who has had a lot of problems with injuries during the last couple of years.
"And with guys like Ben Cairns and Nick De Luca coming into the side it has been really tough for him."
