Edinburgh fan favourite Allan Jacobsen to make return to action
Scotland international Allan Jacobsen could return to action in Edinburgh’s friendly against Watsonians on Thursday evening after five months on the sidelines.
The 30-year-old prop hasn’t played since tearing shoulder tendons away from the bone in Scotland's RBS Six Nations Championship victory over Italy at Murrayfield on 28 February.
But Jacobsen, nicknamed ‘Chunk’, has revealed he is in contention for the match at Myreside which will probably be played over three periods of 20 minutes, or if not, against Harlequins on August 22.
He said: "All my training has been geared to playing in Edinburgh's pre-season programme, although I don't know if that will be in Thursday's training match or the later games against Harlequins and Newcastle.
"What I am certain of is that I'm really, really hungry to get going."
The Edinburgh-born loose-head was widely tipped for Lions tour selection this summer, but instead will try to build on his 37 caps in Andy Robinson’s new-look Scotland outfit.
