Lynn Howells backs Rob Moffat to do the business for Edinburgh
Former Edinburgh coach Lynn Howells believes Rob Moffat can be equally successful with the capital side as predecessor Andy Robinson was.
Moffat – who worked as an assistant to both Howells and Robinson during their respective terms at the club – was finally handed control of Edinburgh prior to the start of the season.
Robinson’s departure to join the Scottish national team paved the wave for Moffat who has since led Edinburgh to four wins from their first six Magners League games.
Robinson led Edinburgh to their highest ever Magners League finish of second last year and Howells – who was head coach in 2006 – has backed Moffat to do the same.
“Rob was my assistant coach when I was at Edinburgh and he was Andy Robinson’s assistant as well and he is a very good coach,” said Howells.
“I am pleased for him that he has finally been given the opportunity to do it for himself and I am sure he will continue to grab it with both hands.
“A lot of the young players I introduced to the club are still playing and I know Rob will be enjoying it having learnt so much from Andy.”
