Easter performs in Harlequins rout of Edinburgh

Edinburgh were the victims of a Nick Easter inspired Harlequins backlash as they were comfortably beaten in 33-16 in a friendly at Myreside.

England international Easter scored two tries and set-up a try for Argentina international Gonzalo Tiesi as the club looked to move away from the much-publicised off-field controversy that has dogged the London outfit in recent weeks.

Tries from Sam Smith and George Robson completed the rout for Quins and Edinburgh could only reply with three penalties from Chris Patterson – who later went off with a hip injury – and a converted try from John Houston.

Edinburgh were fielding a youthful line-up and couldn’t handle the movement and physicality of a Harlequins side littered with internationals.

A highlight for Edinburgh was the appearance of prop Allan Jacobsen who returned from injury after six months on the sidelines.

Edinburgh visit Newcastle Falcons in their last pre-season friendly on Friday before their opening game in the Magners League against Cardiff Blues on September 4.
