Blair's Lions bid alive again

Scotland skipper Mike Blair could be handed a route back into Ian McGeechan's British & Irish Lions squad after scrum-half Tomas O'Leary was injured yesterday.

Blair was absent from the 37-strong squad on Tuesday but heads up a list of replacements for O'Leary, who suffered a suspected broken ankle during Munster's 29-10 win over Scarlets on Friday.

The 25-year-old was carried off after just ten minutes and will almost definitely miss the tour to South Africa which is due to begin on May 30.

That leaves Ospreys' Mike Phillips and Leicester's Harry Ellis as only two scrum-halves with Blair, fellow Scot Chris Cusiter and Sale's Dwayne Peel waiting for the call when O'Leary's omission is officially confirmed.
