Former Scottish players set to feature in Murrayfield's 'Magic Weekend'
Former Scotland internationals Scott Hastings and Rowen Shepherd will feature in a Super League 'Tag Tournament', as part of Rugby League's Magic Weekend in Edinburgh.
Former British Lion Hastings, who won 65 caps at centre during an 11-year international career, and Shepherd, who played 20 times for Scotland at full-back between 1995 and 1998, will be the star names from the world of rugby union taking part.
The 'Tag Tournament', which will feature supporters and former players from the world of rugby union and rugby league, is part of an extensive pre-match entertainment programme planned for Super League's Magic Weekend, which will see Murrayfield host an entire round of league fixtures.
"The Magic Weekend is a great concept as it gives people in Scotland an opportunity to see the excitement of Super League, whilst also giving regular Super League fans the chance to see their side play in the superb city of Edinburgh and the home of Scottish Rugby, Murrayfield," said Hastings.
"I'm really looking forward to representing Scotland again at Murrayfield on Saturday in the 'Tag Tournament' and going head-to-head with some of the legends of Super League as well as some familiar faces to Union fans."
The Magic Weekend will take place this weekend (2/3 May) at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium.
Seven matches will take place over the two days: (Saturday 2 May): Salford City Reds v Harlequins RL, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats v Bradford Bulls, Wigan Warriors v St Helens
(Sunday 3 May): Huddersfield v Celtic Crusaders, Hull FC v Castleford Tigers, Catalans Dragons v Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves v Hull Kingston Rovers
