Yet more plaudits for Grainger

Katherine Grainger has rounded off another vintage year by being named Scottish Sportsperson of the Year.

Grainger was the first woman ever to win the title and was awarded the crown at the Commonwealth Games Scotland Awards Dinner in Glasgow.

The 33-year-old made it a hat-trick of silver medals with second place at last year’s Olympic Games in the quadruple sculls.

Grainger made the bold step of switching from the quad to the single sculls this year but was again among the medals with silver at this year’s World Championships.

And the 33-year-old couldn’t hide her delight after scooping the gong.

"It is fabulous to win this award and it is the icing on the cake for my first season in the single sculls," said Grainger.
