Grainger – give it everything you've got
Katherine Grainger, a 2000 and 2004 Olympic silver medallist and Scotland's most successful rower in Olympic history, had some advice last week for Scotland's youngsters who hope to realise a sporting dream.

"Just enjoy doing a whole range of sports. I tried loads of different sports before I finally got into rowing. I never though for one second it would be in rowing that I would get my Olympic medal(s).

And when you do find something you are good at - give it everything you've got!"

The 32 year-old Scot was speaking ahead of her second World Cup race of the season in Lucerne, Switzerland at the weekend.

Unfortunately, despite leading the women's quadruple sculls race over the first 500 metres, the British boat was overhauled by the Chinese (1st) and the American's (2nd).

Whilst Grainger's crew had to settle for bronze they will be hoping to take gold at the final World Cup in Posnan as they prepare to try and make history by becoming the first British women's rowing crew to win gold at an Olympic Games.
