Jamie Stevenson announces retirement from representative orienteering
Scotland’s Jamie Stevenson, a former world No. 1, has announced his retirement from representative orienteering and has dropped out of the British senior squad.
Jamie has never missed a World Championship since making his debut at the age of 22 in 1997.
His glorious career included a first gold medal at the middle distance World Cup race in Australia in 2000. He went on to win 6 other medals at World Cups, Nordic and European Championships and in the summer of 2008 Jamie was ranked Number one in the World.
He has won World Championships medals in the sprint and middle distance and the relay.
During his time at international level, Jamie has acted as a great role model for British Orienteering and supported many younger members through their early international careers. He will be greatly missed by his sport.
