Scots select large junior squad

Scotland has selected 31 names for the new 2009 junior squads. The youngsters – aged between 13 and 18 - will take part in a number of designated competitions throughout the year.


The size of the squad reflects the strength of the junior orienteering scene in Scotland. The selectors normally pick around 25 names – but the depth of talent resulted in a far bigger squad. 


Girls 14 years: Rhona McMillan, Evelyn Mason, Karen Maxwell


Girls 16 years: Rona Lindsay, Katrina McLeod, Rosalind Shepherd


Girls 18 years: Lauren Campbell, Kirsty Coombs, Abigail Longhurst, Kirstin Maxwell, Jessica Orr, Joanna Shepherd, Sarah Tullie


Boys 14 years: Sasha Chepelin, Calum McLeod, Craig Nolan, Robert Patterson


Boys 16 years: Jack Barrett, Finlay Langan, Andrew Lindsay, Joab Matthews, Craig Thomson


Boys 18 years: Alan Cherry, Tim Gomersall, Marnoch H-Jones, Patrick Low, Mark McLeod, Tal Ramsay, Tom Ryan, Jamie Stevenson, Stuart Thomson
