Jamie is top Scot

Jamie Stevenson (FVO) was Scotland’s top performer at the European Youth Championships in Switzerland.  The youngster finished seventh in the sprint event – just a second away from a podium place.

In the Classic Distance, Jamie finished 38th, while Abi Longhurst  (FVO) was the best of the Scots in 27th. Hazel Wright (EUOC & Maroc) was 37th and Kirsty Coombs (Maroc) was 41st.

In the European Junior Match – run in conjunction with the Youth event – Hollie Orr (EUOC and Clyde) was a very creditable 12th, while Doug Tullie  (EUOC and RR) was 20th.

In the youth relay, the Scottish team claimed sixth place and the juniors fared even better, taking fourth place.

In the sprint, Kirsty placed 58th and Abi was 73rd in the youthe event, while Doug and Hollie had strong performances to finish in 17th and 19th respectively in the Junior Cup.

Jamie took a dramatic fall along the route, but recovered well to take the top ten place.
