Scott Fraser, one of the best comeitors in Britain in the sport, has been appointed as the Scottish Orienteering Association's Professional Officer.

Scott is a member of the British Squad and will bring to the post a wide experience of orienteering at major events - including the last five World Championships.

Scott, an all-round talent in distance and hill running as well as orienteering, has a Sports Science degree and has had various coaching and Junior Development roles - with the ESOA, Midlothian District Council and ScotJOS.

Scott's main role will be working with the Major Events and he will also be working hard to attract other major events in Scotland.

Last year, Scott, 22, won the Braemar Hill race, while he has also set a goal of competing for Scotland in the 10,000m at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
