Fraser finishes 4th

British champion Scott Fraser finished 4th for a place on the medal podium at the European Orienteering Championships in Latvia.

The Dalkeith man, recently appointed Scottish Orienteering professional officer, clocked 13m 37s to finish 26s down on Swedish winner Emil Wingstedt and missing bronze by just two seconds.

Meanwhile British internationalists Murray Strain (Interlopers) and Claire Williams (Edinburgh Southern) won the elite tiles at the Scottish Orienteering Championships at Tullochroisk near Kinloch Rannoch.

Both took the titles for the first time.

Williams, back running at top level following the birth of a baby 8 months ago, is now considering if, like Strain,  she should contest the British world championship team trials in two weeks time.
