Colin Montgomerie fancies a shot at Olympic glory in 2016
Colin Montgomerie insists he would jump at the chance to play at the 2016 Olympics as he continues to throw his weight behind the sport's bid to be included.
The 45-year-old European Ryder Cup captain was speaking at the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne on Monday.
Seven sports; baseball, golf, karate, roller sports, rugby sevens, softball and squash, made their case for inclusion to the IOC?s executive board.
And Montgomerie said: "There is nothing to stop me competing in the Olympic Games at 53. If I'm in the top sixty in the world, my God '?ll be there wherever the city may be and I think I speak for the top 60 men.
"It would make up for that (not winning a Major) and the rest. To be the first gold-medal winner for 112 years would be a massive achievement for whoever wins."
