Glasgow Wildcats fight back to claim first Super League win
Glasgow Wildcats gained their first win in the Super League as they triumped 48-82 over Brunel Hurricanes in Guildford.
The victory took them off the bottom of the table for the first time and provided hope that the second half of the season will see an upturn in fortunes.
Glasgow trailed 23-22 at half-time but clawed back in the third quarter to lead 37-31 and it was a margin they held at the end of the match.
Brunel came back to 41-41 at one point but Glasgow were not to be denied with Lesley MacDonald shooting 77 per cent and 32 goals and Rachel Holmes shooting 11 from 14.
“It was a game where tactically we were aware of the strengths and weaknesses of individuals and the team,” said Glasgow coach Denis Holland.
"Teams will see this result and say ‘Oh my gosh’. I think we can really fly now, we physically really pushed them.”
