Speedway - Wethers saves the day for Monarchs
Matthew Wethers was the star as Scotwaste Edinburgh Monarchs scraped an away 47-46 victory on a far from easy rain-soaked circuit against Rye House.
Matthew took the required second place between Tai Woffinden and Chris Neath as
Monarchs snatched the dramatic last gasp victory.
Torrential rain set the tone for a difficult evening on a shiny and slippy track and there were several crashes including one involving Monarch's Ryan Fisher.
Just three up going in to the last heat against Rye's top riders, Woffinden (unbeaten) and Neath (1 point dropped), was not the best of positions for Edinburgh, and it got worse when Derek Sneddon was excluded after a first bend tumble.
But the brave ride by Matthew was just enough to deliver the single point win.
