Monarchs hoping to start strong

Edinburgh Monarchs are out to defend five trophies as the 2009 season gets underway
Edinburgh Monarchs open the defence of five trophies this week as they get their 2009 season on track.
After a challenge match at King's Lynn on Wednesday, Monarchs take on arch-rivals Glasgow Tigers at Armadale on Friday in the first leg of the Spring Trophy.
New captain Matthew Wethers is confident the team can go from strength to strength.
"Last season was great but I believe we can all continue to improve and get the job done,” he said.
“When we are up against Glasgow then we are always out to win! I think we can definitely do it. They have James Grieves back but we have riders who are just as good.”
