Allan McNish excited to be back in the frame for Petit Le Mans
Former F1 driver Allan McNish is keeping his fingers crossed for a return to form at the Petit Le Mans this weekend after losing the big prize in June.
McNish and his Audi team saw their five-year dominance of the Le Mans 24 Hours come to an end this summer as Peugeot walked away with the title.
But the 39-year-old will return to Road Atlanta this weekend – the scene of three previous Petit Le Mans victories – as he bids to dominate the track once again.
“I can’t wait to race again, especially as I’ll be contesting one of my favourite races,” said McNish.
“I’m revved up and really excited. I was only expecting to do two races this year so to get the added bonus of a third is tremendous.
“Petit will be an ideal and vital step in further developing the car in readiness for Le Mans next June. Everyone at Audi is very eager to get that title back in 2010.”
