Lawson hurt in Monarch's win

Tiger Monarch's No.1 rider William Lawson broke his collar bone as the Edinburgh side maintained an unbeaten home record with a 54-39 victory over Stoke Potters in the British Premier League.

In the return match in Stoke on Saturday, riding was abandoned after 9 heats with the Monarchs leading by 28-26.

By that stage continuous rain had made the track very slippery, and it was agreed that cancelling the meet was the correct decision.

Lawson's crash came in his second ride at Armadale as he moved in to challenge Andrew Moore and clipped his rival's back wheel and it is feared he could be sidelined for a month.

Monarchs injury jinx continued when Matthew Wethers also took a fall after partner Derek Sneddon had lost a chain going in to the first corner of heat 13.

At that stage the match had not been decided, but Matthew pulled off a great win from the back against Stoke guest George Stancl in the rerun.
