Kevin Wolbert looks set to make a major impact as Edinburgh Monarchs come to the crucial stage of their season.

The new German signing top-scored with 14 points as Monarchs lost 54-38 at Newcastle Diamonds and also impressed in  Saturday's 45-45 draw at Workington Comets.

Wolbert made a steady debut with four points in Friday's 38-34 win over Birmingham Brummies at Armadale which was abandoned due to rain but with the result standing.

Monarchs are in the middle of a hectic schedule and have away matches at Redcar Bears and Birmingham this week before facing arch-rivals Glasgow Tigers at Armadale on Friday.
