Easton still chasing second spot

Scotland’s Stuart Easton remains in the hunt to finish second in the MCE Insurance British Superbike championship after claiming two podiums during round nine at Cadwell Park.

The 26-year-old arrived in Lincolnshire in fine-form after twice finishing third in a historic triple header at Brands Hatch earlier this month – and at Cadwell Park he kept his recent-run going.

Hydrex Honda’s Easton finished second in race one as Airwaves Yamaha championship leader Leon Camier claimed his 15th win of the season, holding off James Ellison in third.

While in race two, Easton benefitted from race winner Camier being disqualified, as he moved up from third into second, with Ellison taking top step on the podium.

Ellison’s first and third place finishes at Cadwell saw him extend his lead over Easton from 43 to 44 points but the Scot is convinced he’s still in the hunt for runner’s-up position in the overall championship standings.

“The whole weekend has been a bit of a struggle up until race day to be honest,” said Easton, who now has 258 championship points.

“We’ve struggled with the set-up of the bike and we’re still struggling now to be honest even though we have been strong in both races.

“I was just fighting all the way around and it was good to get onto the podium in race one and two. I just need to make sure I can keep that up and catch James in the championship.”
