Job well done for Stuart Easton at Donington Park
Stuart Easton admitted it was a job well done at Donington Park after the Hydrex Honda rider twice forced his way on to the podium.
Easton has experienced a frustrating start to the new BSB season, collecting just one podium finish at the season-opener at Brands Hatch ahead of Donington at the weekend.
After yet more practice frustrations on Saturday and Sunday, Hydrex Honda mechanics worked through the night to rebuild Easton's gearbox in an effort to make the 25-year-old competitive.
Easton and the team were rewarded for their brave decision as the flying Scot produced a gutsy performance to finish in third behind winner Leon Camier and second placed James Ellison in race one.
"I was pleased with that,I want to say thanks to the team because they built a new gearbox with all new ratios overnight and the bike was totally different in the race than it was in qualifying," said Easton.
"We were strong in the warm up, third quickest, and I got the podium in the race which was really pleasing.
"I passed Chris Walker and Simon Andrews who flew out pretty quickly and then managed to pull away from them which gives me confidence and makes me feel stronger on the bike also.
"Last night the team stayed up late and split the whole engine in half and rebuilt the whole bike just to get me a better gearbox for the race and every credit to them and this podium is just as much theirs as it is mine."
The Hawick ace went one better in race two, finishing in second behind James Ellison as he took advantage of Leon Camier's pre-race mechanical problems.
And with round four at Thruxton following on in just six days time, Easton is banking on repeating his Donington Park form.
"Thruxton is next and I really like it there," he added. "I have a Supersport lap record at Thruxton, so I have high hopes for next weekend definitely.
"If I can get a third and a second place finish at Donington Park ? who knows what I can achieve next time out at Thruxton."
