Stuart Easton wins Macau Grand Prix for second year running
Stuart Easton toasted his best ever Superbike season after holding off a late charge by Manxman Conor Cummins to secure his second successive Macau Grand Prix victory.
The 26-year-old flew out of the traps setting a new lap record during qualifying to start on pole before racing into an early lead.
Easton feared the worse when tyre damage saw Cummins overtake him on the penultimate lap however he fought back to take victory on the final revolution.
The diminutive Scot claimed his maiden Macau win twelve months ago and after ending a season which has also seen him take two British Superbike victories – Easton was justifiably proud.
“To win again and to set a new lap record has made this the perfect weekend,” said Easton.
“I must say a big thank you to Shaun Muir who gave me the opportunity to have my best season ever and all the team have been fantastic.
“The first half of the race went really well but Conor was pushing hard and I felt I was in trouble because of the grip going off on the tyres.
“But I was determined to win again so on the last lap I pushed really and with what grip I had left I was able to take Conor.”
