Stuart Easton seeking to secure BSB runner's up spot at Silverstone
Hawick’s Stuart Easton heads to Silverstone for the MCE Insurance British Superbike round 11 this weekend with one thing on his mind - the championship runners up spot.
After securing his maiden victory last time out at Croft, Easton - third on 303 points - is now just 32 points behind Airwaves Yamaha arch-rival James Ellison.
And with Silverstone and a season-finale at Oulton Park still to come – Easton insists he only has eyes for a top-two finish in the championship.
“I feel like the pressure is on James Ellison now in the championship as he has second to lose but I have it to gain,” added Easton - who celebrated his maiden win with the birth of his first child last week.
“We are secure in third at the moment and I am definitely heading to Silverstone looking for more. I have had six second places and now I have broken the duck there will be more to come.
“I really now want to split the Airwaves Yamaha riders in the championship standings; only myself and Sylvain Guintoli have been able to beat them on track until now, and I hope that with everything going the way it is, we can have another good go at Silverstone.
"To win that first race was really me getting the monkey off my back and it was nice to etch the win on to my tally, even if it is only one for now.”
