Stuart Easton grabs his first win on the British Superbike circuit
Hawick's Stuart Easton finally tasted MCE Insurance British Superbike success as he topped the podium for Hydrex Honda during round ten at Croft.
Team boss Shaun Muir admitted the win had been five years in the making as Easton took advantage of a poor start from championship leader Leon Camier in race one to top the podium.
Easton, who cut the lead on second placed James Ellison in the championship classification to just 32 points in the process, admitted he was overcome with his performance.
“The bike and the team are getting better every year and that is being shown with our performances,” said Easton, who finished second in race two.
“To win my first BSB and Hydrex’s first win at my home track is an absolutely great experience. I’m absolutely buzzing – it’s such a great feeling and one that was definitely worth the wait.
“Knockhill is in reality my home race, but I think of Croft as equally like home to me because the team are based here, so to do this here is amazing.
“Not only is it special for me, but the team are thrilled and rightly so.
“It’s a reward for all of their hard work and commitment into making the bike so competitive.
“I was feeling good the whole way through the race, but like normal, there’s a lot of pressure and your tyres start to go towards the end of the race, so I had to keep it steady.”
