Stuart Easton claims first pole of the season in final race
THE last round of the British Superbike campaign provided plenty of firsts for Hawick’s Stuart Easton as he bagged first place in the opening race, his first pole and his first crash of the season.
Easton underlined his reputation as one of the hottest properties in the MCE Insurance BSB paddock with his second win of the season in the first race and another podium finish in race two.
In his desperation to round off his season with another win he skidded out on a corner of Oulton Park leaving runaway champion Leon Camier to bag his 19th win of the season.
But even that could not take the gloss of a tremendous campaign for 26-year-old Scot who was quick to pour cold water on speculation that he will make the jump over to the World Superbikes next season.
“I’m pleased with the season,” he said. “I got two wins and finished third overall and this weekend, up until that crash, was the strongest I’ve had, pole position and a race win so I’m delighted.
“As for my future I will wait till next week, there is talk of moving to the Worlds but will wait until the season has finished there and then see where we are.
“I’m not sure if I will be moving somewhere else for next season, I think staying where I am would be a good thing to do.”
