Easton: Championship leader Camier will come back stronger at Croft
Hawick’s Stuart Easton believes champion-elect Leon Camier’s race two disqualification last time out at Cadwell Park will not give him an advantage going into MCE Insurance British Superbike round ten.
Camier felt the wrath of race officials at the Lincolnshire circuit after failing to acknowledge a black and orange flag given to him after an oil leak on his Yamaha machine.
As result Easton picked up two second place finishes but saw second place James Ellison increase his lead by one point after being handed the race two win and finishing third in race one.
However Easton – who sits third with 258 points 141.5 away from the top – is adamant Camier won’t be haunted by his last race exploits as the season enters its final quarter at Croft.
“It was a big moment Leon getting disqualified because he’s been almost flawless all year but it won’t make any difference to the standings,” said Easton.
“It can be hard to come back from an upset like that but Leon is a professional rider and I have no doubt he will have forgotten all about it by the next race and be back to his best.
“In comparison I had two second place finishes – only one if you consider that Leon got disqualified – so it was a pretty good weekend but hard at the same time.
“The main aim for Croft now is to see how close I can get to Leon and if I get two second place finishes again then I would be happy with my weekend’s work.”
