Ten Scots in elite squad

Ten Scots have been included in the Great Britain training squad building towards the 2012 Olympics in London.

British Judo has named an initial squad for the event after the British trials in Sheffield earlier this month.

World bronze medallist and Beijing Olympian Euan Burton, who missed the trials due to injury, is included in the squad.

Also named is James Millar, who narrowly missed out in the Under-60kg class to Craig Fallon for a Beijing place, and Andrew Burns, in the under-100kg class.

In the women’s events, former European champion Sarah Clark is included along with sisters Louise and Kim Renicks.

Also named are: Leanne Black (Under-48kg), Kirstene Feenan (under-57kg), Connie Ramsay (Under-63kg) and Michelle Rogers (Under-78kg).

“For me the Trials was very interesting to assess the potential of players who could reach the top international level and to see some younger players challenging for places,” said GB head coach Patrick Roux.

“I am very confident we can all work together to start to improve many things and to achieve future success in London.”
