Silver for Clark
Edinburgh's Sarah Clark won a silver medal at the European Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, narrowly missing out on repeating her gold medal triumph of three years ago.

Clark lost in the final to Portugal's Telma Monteiro, who had stepped up a weight after winning the Under-52kg European title.

Clark won all of her group matches and then overcame Ioulietta Boukouvala (Greece) in the semi-finals to set up the clash with Monteiro.

Edinburgh club-mate James Millar finished seventh in the men’s Under-60kg class after losing to Ukraine’s Georgiy Zantaraya in his final group match and then Austria’s Ludwig Paischer in the repechage. Paischer went on to win a bronze medal.

There was disappointment for Kimberley Renicks in the women’s Under-48kg event when she lost in her opening group match to German Michaela Baschin, who later won bronze.
