Burton out to make amends

World bronze medallist Euan Burton is out to make amends for last weekend's disappointing showing at the World Cup in Tblisi when he competes in the Paris Grand Slam on February 7-8.

Burton lost out in his first bout to Ukraine's Sergiy Balaban but is included in the 16-strong British squad for Paris.

"The team didn't do very well in Georgia, but I'm pleased to be back in action.  I felt good," Burton told In The Winning Zone.  "I've been out with a shoulder injury.  It's pretty much the first time I've competed in five months, since the Olympics.

"Paris is the big one, probably one of the most important championships every year.  Asides from the Olympics, it's probably the only event where you feel like a real sports star.  25,000 people show up to watch it."

Also included are Edinburgh clubmates James Millar, Matthew Purssey, Sally Conway and Sarah Adlington.

Glasgow's Andrew Burns is named in the Under-100kg class.

Great Britain team: Men: Under-60kg: C Fallon, J Millar; Under-66: C Oates; Under-73: J Gosiewski, A Farbon; Under-81: E Burton, M Purssey; Under-90: J Austin, J Purssey; Under-100: A Burns; Women: Under-52: S Johnstone; Under-57: F Pitman, G Howell; Under-70: S Conway; Under-78: L Purves; Over-78: S Adlington.
