British Judo head coach "delighted" with Sarah Clark's European performance
Edinburgh's Sarah Clark was the shining light for Great Britain at the European Judo Championships, picking up silver last weekend in Tbilisi.
The 31-year-old dropped down from the -63kg to -57kg but she was the only Brit to reach the medals podium, and narrowly missed out on gold.
It is a third European medal for two-time Olympian Clark, who picked up bronze in 2004 and was crowned champion in 2006.
"I am delighted with Sarah Clark's fantastic performance in Tbilisi," British Judo head coach Patrick Roux. "She was very unlucky not to win the decision in the final, which in my opinion should have been hers.
"Throughout the day, Sarah combined a great balance of tactical intelligence and aggression- this performance and Sarah's professionalism should inspire the entire GB team."
Clark overcame reigning Olympic champion Guila Quintavalle of Italy in as closely-fought contest in her first match, before easing her way past Germany's Viola Waechter.
Next up for Clark was Greece's Ioulietta Boukouvala but again the Brit was victorious, only to fall at the final hurdle against reigning world champion Telma Monteiro of Portugal.
