John and Sinead Kerr to lead team of seven to Winter Olympics
Scottish siblings John and Sinead Kerr will lead a team of seven figure skaters to the Vancouver Olympics in February after the British Olympic Association confirmed their selections on Monday.
The European bronze medallists secured their record-breaking seventh consecutive national ice dance title on Saturday and will be joined by British silver medallists Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland for the ice dance in Vancouver.
Meanwhile, Jenna McCorkell will make her debut in the women's competition while David King and Stacey Kemp will lead the way in the pairs.
But it's the Kerrs who are Britain's best chance of ending a 16-year figure skating medal drought and John insisted they had a high finish well within their grasp.
"It's a wonderful feeling to be selected for the team again," said John, who finished tenth with his sister last time out in Turin.
"We learned an enormous amount about competing for Team GB when we were at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin and of course we're looking forward to repeating that in Vancouver.
"It was a fantastic experience to finish in the top ten in 2006 but we're aiming to go even higher in 2010."
