Double Gold for Aberdeen Synchronized Ice skaters
Two Aberdeen Synchronized Ice Skating teams have beaten all comers in their respective categories at the British National Championships on Monday 22nd November.

The competition was held at the Sheffield Ice Arena where Zariba (the senior team) retained their Intermediate 2 Category championship and a team best performance, outstripping their last score at the same competition earlier this year.

The junior team, Pizazz, took Gold in the Intermediate 1 Category after previously winning their Preliminary Category in February 2010.

Although normally held annually, the 2011 British Championships were brought forward by 3 months which means that both teams are double Champions in the same year.

Zariba and Pizazz are currently all-girl teams, and comprise 24 skaters age between 12 and 20 with 12 in each team.

Success is not new to these teams, with Pizazz also being current Scottish champions in the Preliminary category, while Zariba have amassed five Gold and four silver medals since their formation in 2007.

The girls train at the Aberdeen Linx Ice Arena under the direction of their Coach, Sara Paterson, herself a former champion figure skater.

Not content with their current success the girls are already looking forward to an International synchronized skating competition to be held in Dumfries in April next year.
