Edinburgh Capitals opened their season with mixed fortunes at home and away.
On Saturday, the Scottish side beat Sheffield Steelers 3-1 in Yorkshire with player-coach Doug Christiansen scoring twice and Taylor Christie also on target.
But the star of the show was stand-in netminder Pasi Raitanen who saved 50 of 51 shots.
On Sunday, the Capitals returned home to host Belfast Giants in the Challenge Cup but lost 4-1.
Andrej Rajcak gave them the lead but Belfast hit back with goals from Bobby Robins (2), Paul Deniset and Scottish forward Colin Shields.
