Edinburgh suffer heavey Challenge Cup defeat

Edinburgh on the wrong end of a thrashing in Challenge Cup
Edinburgh Capitals got their Challenge Cup campaign off to the worst possible start after suffering a heavy 6-2 defeat at the hands of reigning champions Belfast.
The Giants proved too strong for Edinburgh from the off leading 3-1 at the end of the first period before adding a further three in the second.
Pierre-Luc Faubert netted twice while Craig Peacock, Shane Johnson, Evan Cheverie and Pat Bateman were all on target for the Irish outfit in the opening 40 minutes.
Mark Smith had pulled the Capitals level in the opening period but that and Owen Fussey’s powerplay goal 41 seconds into the third period were nothing more than consolations.
