Edinburgh Capitals sign experienced Canadian star Chris Allen
Edinburgh Capitals have signed former Florida Panthers defenceman Chris Allen as their team starts to take shape for the new campaign.
Allen started his career in the Ontario Hockey League playing for Kingston Frontenacs and has picked up experience in the American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League and United Hockey League.
He was drafted 60th overall in the third round of the 1996 draft by the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League but for the past five years has been playing in Europe.
Allen has been played in Finland, Norway, Denmark, Austria and Hungary. Last season he played for High1 in the Asian League where he had 18 points from 6 goals and 12 assists and 54 penalty minutes.
"I know what it takes to win," he stressed, "I've been to the finals twice in Finland and once in Austria. I'm very excited about coming to Edinburgh this season. I've only heard great things about Edinburgh as a city, team and organisation! I've always wanted to play and travel in and around the UK!"
Doug Christiansen, Edinburgh Capitals coach, stated, "Chris is a massive signing for us. Of course, his statistics and awards speak for themselves. What drew me to Chris was his professionalism and his integrity. I am expecting him to be a leader for us."
