Captials rise off the bottom of the league after shoot-out win
Edinburgh won their second shoot-out in as many days to complete a four point weekend and finally move off the bottom of the Elite League following a 3-2 win over Hull.
Simon Lambert was again the hero repeating his efforts that saw the Capitals beat Sheffield 6-5 after a shoot-out netting the winner after Edinburgh surrendered a two-goal advantage.
The Capitals stormed to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Owen Fussey and Jeff Hutchins however Hull were never out of reach with George Halkidis keeping them in it in the third period.
Konstantin Kalmikov took the game to overtime when he lashed home in the 51st minute but it wasn’t to be for the Stingrays as Lambert sent them crashing to their sixth straight defeat.
Capitals' coach Doug Christiansen believes Hutchins can fire his team to greater things.
"Jeff is a very well known player in the EIHL and when you sign him you know what you are getting," he said.
"He is a proven scorer who plays with a mean streak. He goes to the dirty areas and gets his goals by battling hard in front. He has the ability to play centre or wing and that really gives us a lot of flexibility."
