Scots come off worst in tri-nations mini series in Southampton
Wooden spoons all round as Scotland`s men and women finished at the foot of their pools against England and Australia in the Tri-Nations indoor tournament in Southampton.
The women, in pole position overnight having defeated the Aussies and drawn with England in the opening matches, fell from grace with back-to-back defeats against Australia (3-1) and England (4-3), despite holding a half-time lead in both contests.
Coach Gordon Shepherd is looking to the future: "Although we`re all disappointed with the results, we still need to learn how to keep our composure and be less frantic. Nonetheless, there were a lot of positives, especially with five teenagers in the side.
"This weekend has been part of the building process for the European Nations Championships in 2010, and to that end we`ve come a long way."
Meanwhile, Scotland`s men continued their miserable run by falling 7-3 to the Wallabies, and were consigned to bottom place in the tournament.
