Reid and Gilbert step up

INVERLEITH hockey club have appointed experienced coaches Dave Reid and Mike Gilbert to replace outgoing Mabe Neish.

The Edinburgh-based duo are regarded as one of Scotland's most experienced coaching partnerships and took charge of team affairs for the first time on Wednesday.

Reid, who is assistant coach to Scotland's under 21 men's squad, and Gilbert, a former Olympic women's coach, had worked together for almost 20 years.

Reid said: "Inverleith have developed Olympic players like Stephen Dick and Graham Moodie.

"That will make demands on individual players and maintain our aim to continue to play at the top of Scottish hockey."
