Keith Joss seeking progress ahead of European Championships
Scotland women's hockey coach Keith Joss is adamant his team will need to improve if they are to succeed at the European Championships in Holland next month.
Joss' side, who will play Spain in a friendly this weekend, won the Celtic Cup in late June but came crashing back to earth by losing three matches in as many days against Belgium in a friendly series at Stirling's Forthbank Stadium earlier this month.
Despite creating numerous chances the Scots were unable to test the Belgians and Joss knows that things will have to get better when they take on the rest of Europe in Amsterdam in August.
Joss said: "We are obviously aware of the need to convert more of the chances we create, especially set-piece situations in attack and defence.
"Spain is an important match in our preparation for the European Championships, Spain have an excellent record within world hockey and are a real marker for us.
"They are also our first competitors at the Europeans, so it will be good to see where we are against them now."
