GB continue steady build up to Olympics
England's James Tindall scored the only goal in Great Britain’s one-off Test Match against New Zealand in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening.
The goal came in the 24th minute after Tindall beat three New Zealand defenders close to the baseline on the left of the circle and finished with a low shot into the back of the net.
The second half performance was less impressive, but still the Blacksticks failed to score a goal despite earning five penalty corners. Ali McGregor, who played in the first half, dealt well with the only set piece he faced, and James Fair, playing in the second half stood firm against the five which he had to answer.
Manager Pete Nicholson said “We dealt well with what was thrown at us today in the last match before the Olympic squad is announced.”
The Team GB hockey squads will be issued by the BOA at 9.30am on Tuesday 24 June.
